Afghanistan and Pakistan have suffered losses of $200 million in the past 24 days

Pakistani media outlets have said that the closure of highways between the two countries has caused losses of $200 million to both sides in the past 24 days.

The media outlets added that the closure of these roads has also halted Pakistan’s trade with Central Asia.

Hundreds of trucks and traders on both sides are stuck, and hundreds of tons of fruits and other food items have spoiled or are about to spoil. In addition, the prices of fruits and vegetables in Pakistan have also increased.

The media outlets also said that Afghanistan imports $150 million from Pakistan on a monthly basis and exports $60 million to Pakistan, but the closure of the roads has affected these activities.

It is worth noting that the routes between Afghanistan and Pakistan were closed when Pakistan launched its first airstrike on Kabul on October 9. After that attack, Afghan security forces attacked Pakistani posts near the Durand Line, which were met with retaliatory attacks from that side.
